Qing Dynasty Tibetan-style temple heritage Miantang-style White Tara old Thangka. This Thangka exemplifies the typical Miantang-style depiction of White Tara, an artistic tradition that emerged and flourished during the Zanpu era, reaching its peak during the mid-Pachu era to the Ganden Podrang era. The central figure depicted in this Thangka is the image of White Tara, known in Tibetan as Zhoima Gar, also known as the Buddha Mother who Increases Lifespan and Saves. She is a manifestation of Avalokiteshvara's compassion and is one of the twenty-one incarnations of the sacred Buddha Mothers, also known as the 'Three Longevity Deities', widely revered in the Mongolian and Tibetan regions.
White Tara is portrayed at the center of the composition, with a pure white complexion, jet-black and thick hair adorned with a crown of flowers and earrings, with a celestial scarf fluttering at her ears. She wears necklaces and drapes a golden shawl over her upper body, with golden scarves draping from her shoulders down. She wears a colorful skirt below. Her face features three eyes, with an additional eye in each palm and sole of her feet, symbolizing her ability to see every corner of the world and aid beings in distress. Her features are delicate, with a gentle and compassionate expression. Her right hand is in the gesture of granting wishes, while her left hand holds a fully blossomed white lotus, seated in a posture on a lotus pedestal emerging from a lotus moon disk. There is a circular halo behind her. The upper part of the Thangka depicts the great master Padmasambhava, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Tsongkhapa, while the lower part features Longevity Buddha and the Victorious Buddha Mother.
The overall composition of the Thangka is well-structured, with vibrant colors, intricate detailing, and a remarkable theme, presenting in excellent condition. Particularly notable are its authentic colors and premium materials, indicating its high quality.
