Manjushri Bodhisattva is revered as one of the sixteen arhats in Tibetan Buddhism. Represented in a contemplative posture with one hand supporting the cheek and the other resting on the leg, slightly tilting his head downward, this posture symbolizes the Bodhisattva of Wisdom. With one foot pendant and the other folded, depicting a relaxed and serene sitting posture known as 'semi-lotus posture,' combining to form 'semi-lotus contemplation.'
This Bodhisattva statue is depicted seated, displaying graceful and elegant posture with one hand supporting the cheek and the other placed on the leg. The face of the statue is full and serene, adorned with a five-leaf crown and large earrings, with a high bun atop the head. The eyes are slightly closed, with slender eyebrows and a faint smile, conveying a peaceful and compassionate expression. The upper body is bare, adorned with a long skirt at the waist, showcasing strength and natural folds in the fabric. Adornments include beaded necklaces at the chest and waist, with bracelets on the hands and feet.
The left leg is bent at the knee while the right leg is folded, characteristic of Bodhisattva offerings. Resting upon a double-tiered inverted lotus pedestal, meticulously crafted with symmetrical bead patterns along the edges, the petals are finely detailed and full-bodied, displaying a lively and refined appearance. This entire statue is in pristine condition without repairs, cast in high-grade copper alloy, featuring a rare and exceptional theme and design.
Originally from the Jiru Lakang Monastery in Shannan, this statue remains in its original antique state, untouched, and is highly esteemed for its authenticity and craftsmanship.
