Qing Dynasty Tibetan-style mud and gold Milarepa statue. This Milarepa statue is depicted as a yogi, with a lean and angular figure. The face is embellished with mud and gold, featuring a broad forehead and prominent cheeks, with arched eyebrows and round eyes gazing into the distance with a profound and serene expression.

The vivid portrayal of inner spiritual tranquility and joy imbues the statue with vividness, naturalness, and lifelikeness. Milarepa's left hand rests on the ground while his right hand is raised to his ear, depicting him transmitting teachings to his disciples through the various melodies of Tibetan folk songs, portraying a lively and expressive demeanor. His long hair flows freely, indicating his lifelong non-monastic status, yet also portraying the naturalistic traits of a yogi. The figure's proportions are well-balanced, draped in a robe that exposes the right shoulder, with the robe draped over the right shoulder and under the left armpit. The legs are crossed in a relaxed posture on a dais, and even the animal skin beneath him is intricately carved, with the horns and ears of the animal depicted in exquisite detail, showcasing the extraordinary skill of the craftsmen. The folds of the robe are smooth and well-defined, with a rich and expressive aesthetic.

This statue represents the pinnacle of sculptures from the Qing Dynasty, portraying the same theme. Originally from Ganden Monastery, the statue's solid and weighty construction, along with its exquisite craftsmanship, make it a truly exceptional piece.
