The Phurba of the Three-Faced Dharmapalas at the Potala Palace in Sera Temple. The Phurba is one of the most common deities used to dispel obstacles. Before achieving the attainment of the Wrathful Vajrakilaya, the Lotus Guru first purifies obstacles with the Phurba, then practices other methods, ultimately attaining various accomplishments. Thus, the Phurba is renowned for its ability to dispel obstacles and is considered an embodiment of the activities of all Buddhas, capable of eliminating all demonic hindrances.

This Phurba is a sacred object housed within the Potala Palace at Sera Temple. At the apex of this ritual dagger are three wrathful Dharmapala deities, dynamically depicted with lifelike artistic prowess. The Dharmapalas have high, bulging cheeks, prominent muscularity, and fierce, protruding lips, displaying terrifying features that instill fear and awe, revealing their resolute determination to protect against evil and subdue demons, as well as their boundless spiritual power attained through great accomplishment. The intricate carvings of the Makara below are vividly detailed, capturing a sense of divine power in their facial expressions. The upward-curving mouths perfectly reveal their terrifying fangs, harmoniously integrated with the sharp edges of the dagger body, which firmly descends between the three-edged blades, emphasizing their robust and powerful nature.

Although compact in size, it exudes a commanding presence.
